Thai Buddhism is very unique. You will see Hindu deities, and Hindu teachings. Thai people are also worshipping Chinese Kwan Yin (観音)Buddhism. Originally, arrived as Theravada Buddhism, today Thai people worship those Buddhism and now we call this as Thai Buddhism.

I was born in Thailand, and lived in Bangkok for 19 years. When I was 3 or 4, I woke up every 7 a.m. just to welcome Thai monks who pray for us door to door. My Thai grandma and I often donate food, drinks, and 20Baht (approx. half of US$1 during 1980s). In my home in Bangkok, there I have Hindu, Brahman statues in the yard. I would say, every household has it right corner of the house. My mother has Chinese Goddess, Kwan Yin (観音). She believes that she dreamt of the Goddess a night before I was born. Ever since then, she wears Kwan Yin necklace.

As you can notice, therefore, Thai Buddhism is pretty much mixing of every Buddhism. People worship these because of its multicultural background, as well as people worship what is good for them. If people heard about some deities is good, people go to there. In fact, there was a time when Phra Jadukam is so famous throughout the nation. Thai people do whatever they can to obtain the deity. To make it simple, as the time goes on, people in Thailand do not distinguish God or Goddesses from what religions originally came from, they are just praying and worship because God and Goddesses are just right there.

Thai Buddhism blog just intends to giving you insight into Thai religion. When you travel to Thailand, you will notice many features from Hindu or Chinese cultural heritage in the temple as well as in the cities. It is so unique, therefore, I wanted to share awareness to people who might interested in my country, since 2011. I set up Facebook Page, "Thai Buddhism" (https://www.facebook.com/ThBuddhism) and if you like it, please "Like" my page. You can also follow (@Thai_Buddhism) on Twitter.
